Lionel Ritchie wanted to give his daughter the wedding of her dreams. The fairytale wedding took place in December 2010 at Lionel’s home where the couple’s children Harlow and Sparrow joined the 150 guests. The Beverly Hills estate wedding was anything but a standard ceremony and of course, everybody was wondering what the dress will be like. Nicole Richie showed great taste and maturity with her wedding dress choices, proving that she has transformed from a troubled twenty-something into a fashion style icon. However, the Nicole Richie wedding dress had something more to it.

Richie did not choose only one wedding dress, but decided to wear three different gowns throughout the event. The fashion designer was not content with just one bridal outfit, so she chose to display three dressed designed by couture fashion house Marchesa. The second Nicole Richie wedding dress was actually a modified version of the first one. The princess gown included a ball-gown skirt made out of 100 yards of hand-draped silk organza and tulle petals. All three dressed were inspired by the famous Grace Kelly.

In the picture, we can notice the first Nicole Richie wedding dress and parts of the second one. The lace sleeve was embroiled with the couple’s names as a touching tribute. The dramatic Marchesa wedding dress was made of 100 yards of tulle. The lace creation has a cut-back and a removable skirt to make it dance floor friendly. The second dress was a modified version of the first one, so we assume the skirt was removed. The couple’s wedding rings were designed by jeweler Neil Lane who also designed their engagement rings.

Marchesa is a brand established by Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman in 2004. It is one of the most popular womenswear brands among Hollywood actresses and a constant presence on the red carpet. The company produces a diffusion collection named Notte by Marchesa and a couture collection. Recently, Marchesa also launched a wedding dress line and a handbag line. For the Nicole Richie wedding dress, the fashion designer opted for long sleeves, a full skirt and a high neckline that remind of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress.

Nicole wore one gown during the ceremony and for dinner she kept the top and switched into a different skirt. After the dinner party, she changed again. Richie stated that she did not want the typical princess gown and chose a dress that reminds more of her own style. The 80’s style turtleneck lace dress looks amazing and timeless, and although the tulle is often an unfortunate choice, on this dress it looks light and gorgeous.
